NUCA 's 2nd Annual Indoor Golf Tournament was an event filled with high-stakes drama, innovative putting techniques, and more than a few golf balls lost behind furniture. š
An exciting lineup of 22 teams hit the scene, ready to showcase their skills and aim for the starsāeven if a few couldn't quite stick to the fairway! The energy was electric with 11 teams teeing off in the 12pm session and another 11 bringing their A-game at 2pm. We were thrilled to welcome several NUCA guests this year, making fantastic new connections along the way! This event is a hot ticket, so keep your eyes peeled for next year's registration and join in on the fun! šļøāāļø

Special thanks go out to our wonderful tournament sponsors: Presidential - - ACI Northwest, Marsh McLennan, Vermeer, Western States & White DiamondĀ and Superintendent - Modern Machinery and WM Winkler who without their generous support, none of these fabulous NUCA events take place!Ā Special thanks to Inland InfrastructureĀ for being an awesome BAG SPONSOR with giveaways that will be hard to beat!Ā Another shout out to United Rentals Trench SafetyĀ for coming in clutch by providing additional brisket for session two after the "savages" from session one consumed everything, mistaking it for the main course rather than the side attraction to our fabulous potato bar, presented by White Pine Catering, which specializes in business events and luncheons.
The Champions (Shrouded in Scandalš):Ā
Overall champions for this year's tournament were the Bogey Bros, from Sunbelt "The Carpet Whisperers" Rentals. Due to a 3-way tie for lowest score with just 40 strokes, the judges went to the age-old system of āluck of the drawā!Ā After consulting with the judges committee, an impartial member of NUCA Southern Idaho ā Gene Nowlan of Gulley Excavation went to the salad bowl and drew names from the top three finalists.Ā
Ā

This is how the draw concluded: 3RDĀ place winners were the team from SimcoĀ ā Mary Lyons, John Wakkinen, Jason Simmons, and Steve Lyons. Led by NUCA board member Mary Lyons, this team was clutch with their masterful putts that somehow defied physics.Ā Their gentle touch on the greens was so precise that some say they could putt a ball into a teacup from across the room.
Ā The 2NDĀ place winning team came from Consolidated SupplyĀ ā Patrick McGee, Levi Martin, Cody Roberts, and Nick Celebrezze. The team from our newest NUCA member showed off with drives that seemingly had GPS guidance, their shots covered more distance than most road trips. Rumor has it theyāve been recruited by NASA for trajectory research.
Ā
And again the 1STĀ place winners wereĀ Sunbelt RentalsĀ āĀ Dusty Enevold, Joel Enevold, Jeremy Lust, Matthew Reilly. Longtime Dozer Day supporters and NUCA guests, rumor has it they heard one team member mutter "never trusting a cheap putter again" before dramatically tossing it into a nearby trash bin.Ā But on the very next hole, the team hit a drive so powerful that it not only cleared the designated course but also sailed into the adjacent office.

Competition was fierce and many teams did very well, coming in with a 2-way tie for 4thĀ & 5thĀ at 42 strokes were:
šļøĀ Bunker Bandits from Western States: Jacob Lauderdale, Rhett Wall, Todd Stoddard, Rusty Pence
šļøāāļøĀ Delk ManagementĀ - Jordan Enyeart., Corey Thorpe, Sean Mitchell, JB Wilson
And finally, with a 2 way tie 6th Ā & 7thĀ Place, at 43 strokes
šļøāāļøBlack Top Bombers from Inland Asphalt:Ā Jamie Tibbits, Jarrod Hammond, Jarred Nelson, Austin Breen
šļøWM Winkler:Ā Derrick Enquist, Mat Hanke, Matt Pacotti, Sean Gose
Ā
ā³Individual awards were also handed out for Men's Longest Drive, it was Cade "The Living Room Launcher" Dovenberg (aka the only one in his 20s while the rest of the group wondered where they left their reading glasses & Bengay). Cade achieved what many believed impossible-hitting a drive so powerful that it not only cleared the designated course but also sailed into the adjacent office. Cade, however, maintains that "if there's no out-of-bounds rule, it's still a fairway." After Cadeās drive of 341 far exceeded the next closest drive, the rest of the swingers decided not to throw out their backs!Ā His prize? A brand-new set of foam golf balls...for safety reasons.
Ā
šļøāāļøLadies Longest Drive: š„Ā She came. She swung. She conquered! š„šļøāāļø
A huge congratulations to Mandy Beck from H2Precast, who absolutely crushed the competition with a 193-yard Longest Drive at the Ladies Indoor Golf Tournament! šā³ļøĀ Thatās not just a driveāitās a statement! Way to bring the power, Mandy!Ā
Ā
ā³Closest to the Pin Winner: Nik "The Magnetic Putter" Reinhardt
Nickās precision putting was so on point that his ball came to rest mere millimeters from the holeāso close, in fact, that a gentle breeze could have knocked it in. Ok⦠so maybe it was actually 10ā1ā but it was close enough to take home the prize!
Ā
š„»Best Dressed: Jacob "The Fashion Fore-caster" Lauderdale
Jacob took indoor golf attire to new heights with his dazzling ensemble, which included a bedazzled visor, golf ball earrings, and a caddy-inspired fanny pack that dispensed tees and mini hand sanitizers. Well, maybe that was all in my imaginationšĀ but he definitely had the best golf shirt!

Next year we will have a prize for the best team name...it was going to be this year but the announcement came too late for our golfers to get creative, so until next year--keep your putters clean and swing steady! See you in 2026!!
