Our goal

The “Next Generation NUCA Scholarship/Workforce Fund” aims to support the education of young adults, preparing them to become future leaders in the utility construction industry. Additionally, it encourages current employees to enhance their skills and advance their careers, ensuring our industry is continually strengthened by the NEXT generation.

Let your employees know they are eligible!

A link to the scholarship application is below. Please encourage any employee who is looking to advance their career or your company employees with children in high school to apply today! You can share this information with a brief note advising them that children of all company employees are eligible, so they are aware of this crucial member benefit. If you need a flyer for your breakroom, please contact Sheri Nowlan (sheri@nuca.com) or Nichole Thrift (nichole@nuca.com) for assistance.

Applicants will need ample time to complete the application. While the economy is still recovering, college tuition rates continue to rise...Even a $1,000 scholarship can make a big difference to many families. Entering the Trades After School?  We want to help!

Students planning to enter the skilled trades are strongly encouraged to apply for our scholarship because we want to support you every step of the way. We are committed to supporting the next generation of trade professionals and helping reduce the financial barriers to training and education.  We encourage all students pursuing trade careers to apply for our scholarship and take advantage of this opportunity to invest in your future.

To ensure proper stewardship of program funds, all scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipient’s college, university, trade school, or approved training program. Workforce Development funds will be issued as reimbursement upon submission of valid receipts for eligible expenses, such as apprenticeship costs, certifications, or required tools and equipment.

2025 Next Generation Scholarship Recipients

Due to a great 2024 Dozer Day turnout, a generous donation from Simco's golf tournament and some wonderful fundraising events NUCA EWNI was again able to offer an additional scholarship for our 2025 applicants.  Congratulations to:

  • $2500 recipient Tanner Sampson,

  • $1500 recipient Carter Sampson

  • $1000 recipients Marly Davis

  • $1000 recipient Brennan Jones

We are happy to be able to encourage the next generation with their educational journey. Tanner and Carter were our industry award recipients, we encourage ALL NUCA members and their families to apply and want to remind you all that these funds are NOT school specific, they can be used for traditional next steps such as 4 year school or more industry specific training to include welding school, CDL training and more.

NUCA is committed to our future workforce with an industry focus but not limited to industry only. The Next Generation Scholarship fund is just one of the many benefits of being a NUCA member.
